Set up Twilio for CallBooker
CallBooker’s AI agents call your leads through your own Twilio account, so your numbers and call records stay yours and you pay Twilio’s normal rates with no markup. You need two things from Twilio: your Account SID and Auth Token. Here’s how to get them, step by step.
Create a Twilio account
Go to twilio.com/try-twilio and sign up with your email. Twilio asks you to verify your email and your phone number, then asks a few questions about what you’re building. Any answers work; you can pick “Voice” and “With code”.
You land on the Twilio Console, your Twilio dashboard.
Upgrade from trial (to call real leads)
New Twilio accounts start as a free trial. A trial is fine for testing on your own phone, but it:
- can only call numbers you’ve verified in Twilio (up to 5),
- can only call within the country you signed up in,
- plays a short Twilio message before each call.
To call real leads, click Upgrade in the trial banner at the top of the Console (or search “Upgrade” in the Console search bar), add a payment method and some balance. Calls are then billed per minute from that balance, for example about $0.014/min to US numbers.
Copy your Account SID and Auth Token
On the Console home page, find the Account Info panel. It shows:
Account Info
- Account SID
- AC + 32 letters and numbers
- Auth Token
- •••••••••••••••• (click Show, or the copy icon)
Copy both. You can also find them under Account → API keys & tokens.
Connect Twilio in CallBooker
In CallBooker, open Integrations (or the Twilio step of onboarding), paste your Account SID and Auth Token, and click Connect.
CallBooker checks the credentials with Twilio right away and tells you if your account is still a trial.
Get a phone number
Your agent needs a number to call from. Two ways:
- US number: buy it inside CallBooker (easiest): Phone Numbers → Add, search by area code and buy. It’s billed by Twilio to your account.
- Other countries, or a number you already have: buy it in the Twilio Console under Phone Numbers → Manage → Buy a number (tick Voice), then add it on the same CallBooker page.
Pick a local number in the area or country you call most: people answer local numbers more often. In some countries (for example the UK and most of the EU) Twilio asks for an address or business documents before you can buy a local number.
Calling other countries
Twilio blocks calls to many countries until you allow them. If calls to a country fail, open Voice → Settings → Geo permissions in the Twilio Console, tick that country and save. Only turn on the countries you actually call.
Calling US numbers? Registering your business in Twilio’s Trust Hub (SHAKEN/STIR and CNAM) helps your calls show as verified instead of “Spam likely”, which raises answer rates.
That’s it. Your agent can call.
Next: connect your calendar, create your AI agent and test it on your own phone.
Questions
Why does CallBooker use my own Twilio account?
Your phone numbers, call records and caller reputation stay yours, and you pay Twilio its normal rates directly with no markup. If you ever leave CallBooker, your numbers go with you.
How much does Twilio cost?
Calls to US numbers cost about $0.014 per minute and a US local number about $1.15 per month. Rates for other countries are on twilio.com/voice/pricing. CallBooker’s plan covers the AI side of each call.
Can I use a Twilio trial account?
Yes, for testing on your own phone. Trial accounts can only call phone numbers you have verified in Twilio (up to 5), only within the country you signed up in, and play a short trial message before each call. Upgrade to call real leads.
Is my Auth Token safe?
CallBooker stores it encrypted and only uses it to place your calls and manage your numbers. You can disconnect Twilio at any time, and you can rotate the token in Twilio whenever you like (then reconnect it in CallBooker).
